Neymar admits off day and thanks Santos fans after 1-1 draw | OneFootball

Neymar lamented Santos’s 1-1 draw with Corinthians at Vila Belmiro on Sunday in the sixth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, acknowledging his own below-par display.

The captain and No 10 said in a post that it was not the result they wanted, nor the game he had hoped to play. He added that football can be like that, not every match will go well, and stressed the need to keep working. He also thanked Santos supporters for their strong backing after tickets for the clássico sold out.

The derby was his final outing before Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti names his squad for friendlies against Croatia and France later this month, with the list due on Monday afternoon.

Rodrigo Caetano, the national teams’ general coordinator, and Carleto were in Mirassol last Tuesday to watch the hosts face Santos and observe Neymar, but he was rested and did not travel.

So far this season, Neymar has featured in four matches for Santos, starting three, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
