Neymar has urged Santos to move for Philippe Coutinho, calling the prospect his dream in a reply on X to journalist Lucas Musetti. Coutinho has been without a club since the end of his Vasco stint in February.
According to Globo.com, the board have not been won over by the idea, preferring signings who can arrive and play immediately.
There are concerns over Coutinho’s fitness at 34, with the playmaker inactive for seven months. He has not featured since 14 February, when he played for Vasco against Volta Redonda in the Campeonato Carioca.
Even so, he fits Santos’s current recruitment profile, as a free agent who would require no transfer fee.
In the same message, Neymar referenced Gabigol’s 20 goals and said Arthur needs no introduction, while ruling out Gil Cebola or Cris Guedes due to salaries he described as too high for Brazilian football.
Neymar was recently decisive in the signing of midfielder Arthur, whose deal runs until the end of the year, and this window has also brought Lima on loan from Fluminense and right-back Rodinei from Olympiacos of Greece.
