Neymar has rejected claims he berated Santos youngsters in the dressing room, saying the discussion involved the entire squad. The player said in two social media videos on Sunday afternoon.

He was responding after the 2-2 draw with Chapecoense at Vila Belmiro on Saturday night in the Brasileirão. He addressed suggestions that Gabriel Bontempo and João Ananias were singled out.

Neymar said the conversation was a collective debrief, not aimed at the youngsters. He added that Lucas Veríssimo, Arão, Gabi and Brazão were among those who also spoke.

He described the coverage as malicious and false, and said he would not accept lies about targeting the club’s young players. He framed the exchange as normal for a competitive group that wants to win.

On Sunday the squad were split for two sessions, with starters, including the no. 10, doing recovery work. Those who played fewer than 45 minutes trained on the pitch under the coaching staff.
