According to Diario Do Peixe, Sunday’s Santos versus Fluminense at Vila Belmiro, in the 12th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, could be the fifth meeting between Neymar and Paulo Henrique Ganso since they split as team-mates. They played together at Santos from 2009 to 2012, lifting the Copa do Brasil in 2010, the Libertadores in 2011 and the Campeonato Paulista three times from 2010 to 2012.
Their first clash came in 2013 during the Paulistão, after Ganso had joined São Paulo late in 2012. In the fifth round at Vila Belmiro, Santos won 3-1, with Neymar scoring and providing an assist.
The second meeting was in 2016, with Neymar at Barcelona and Ganso at Sevilla. On 6 November in La Liga at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Barcelona won 2-1 through Suárez and Messi. Ganso came on after the break, Neymar completed 90 minutes.
They met again last year in Brasileirão fixtures between Santos and Fluminense. Neymar was a substitute in the 1-0 defeat in the first meeting at the Maracanã, then started the 0-0 draw in the return at Vila Belmiro. Paulo Henrique Ganso came off the bench in both games.
