Neymar addressed a row with a supporter after Santos' 1-1 draw with Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana at Vila Belmiro.

The No 10 opened the scoring inside three minutes, but the visitors equalised before the interval and Santos could not find a second despite several chances.

Neymar said he was troubled by the tone of the insults, adding that he accepts criticism of performances on the pitch but not when it becomes personal.

He explained he reacted because of how he was spoken to, and noted that the frustration with the result was shared by players and fans alike.

He left the field upset by comments from the stands, arguing that some went beyond football and were fuelled by media coverage. He maintained that he gives everything for the club, does more than he should, and will not accept being treated in that way.

The incident came amid dissatisfaction with the home result. Santos remain without a win in the competition, on one point from two matches, increasing early pressure on the campaign.
