Neymar has three Santos games to impress before Carlo Ancelotti names Brazil’s March squad, which will be the last before the official World Cup list, according to Diario Do Peixe.
Brazil are scheduled to play France in Foxborough on 26 March at 18:00, then Croatia in Orlando on 31 March, time to be confirmed.
Santos face Novorizontino on Sunday 22 February at 16:00 at Jorjão in a one-off Paulistão quarter-final. They then host Vasco on Thursday 26 February at 19:00 at Vila Belmiro in the fourth round of the Brasileiro.
Next comes Mirassol on Tuesday 10 March at 21:30 at José Maria de Campos Maia, for round five of the Brasileiro. If Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s side advance in the state competition, a semi-final is slated for the weekend of 28 February or 1 March, with a two-legged final on 4 and 8 March.
Progress to the final could give Neymar as many as three additional outings before the call-up.
He returned last Sunday, 15 February, coming on at half-time in a 6-0 win over Velo Clube at Vila Belmiro, the final round of the Paulistão first phase. It was his first appearance of the year for Santos.
The staff have handled his reintegration cautiously, aiming for improved displays that might help a World Cup call. Internally, there is an expectation of Neymar representing the Alvinegro with the Seleção, and the club have even sent a personalised, autographed shirt to Messi and his children.
