Neymar has mourned the death of businessman and close friend Bruno Avelar after a helicopter crash in Santa Catarina. All five people on board were found dead, with no survivors.

The victims were identified on Tuesday as Avelar, the singer Rick, videomaker Paulo Soares, pilot Antônio and co-pilot Leopoldo.

The group took off on Monday morning from Porto Belo bound for São Joaquim and never arrived. The aircraft, registered PP-MGR, a Bell 430 owned by JTA Empreendimento e Urbanismo, vanished in the afternoon.

The area had been forecast to see strong storms. Firefighters, Civil Defence, the Military Police, the Brazilian Air Force and volunteers searched, using drones with thermal sensors to locate wreckage after a GPS signal.

The Santos attacking midfielder posted a tribute on social media, sharing an old video of his friend. He thanked Avelar for the help he gave when he returned to Brazil and wished him peace.

Avelar had ties with Neymar and his father, took part in auctions for the Neymar Institute, and had been working with Santos’ marketing. Santos expressed deep sorrow, highlighted his role in projects including renovations at Vila Belmiro, and extended condolences to the families of all the victims.
