Neymar will miss Santos's trip to Mirassol on Tuesday, the club said in a statement, as he follows a load-management programme. The Brasileirão fixture kicks off at 21.30 at José Maria de Campos Maia, with Juan Pablo Vojvoda to be without his No 10.
He trained on Monday morning but will not be available for the fifth-round match. He will intensify muscular work and train on Tuesday with the non-selected group at CT Rei Pelé, and should be available for the clássico against Corinthians on Sunday at Vila Belmiro.
Carlo Ancelotti is due to attend in the interior of São Paulo and has Neymar on a pre-list, yet he will not see him on the pitch. The derby is sold out and Neymar still has a chance of a call-up.
On Monday 16, Ancelotti will name the last list before the official World Cup squad. Brazil face friendlies in the United States against France on 26 in Foxborough at 18.00, then Croatia on 31 in Orlando. After those games, the definitive group will meet Egypt in Cleveland on 16 June.
Neymar returned this season after a left-knee arthroscopy on 22 December, coming on at half-time in the win over Velo Clube in the Paulistão. He then started the defeat at Novorizontino that ended Santos's state campaign, before scoring twice in the league win over Vasco at Vila Belmiro. He began his transition at the end of January and has trained fully with the squad for around two weeks.
