N’Golo Kanté recently completed a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad worth a reported £86m-a-year.
And the World Cup winning midfielder has wasted little time in putting his money to good use.
On Thursday, Belgian outfit Royal Excelsior Virton announced that Kanté has purchased the club and will officially take over from current owner Flavio Becca on 1 July.
The club are based in the small town of Virton in the Luxembourg province of Belgium, and they play in the third-tier Belgian National Division 1 having been relegated from the Challenger Pro League in 2022/23.
Their motto is “Small town, big dreams!” and as a diminutive player with big dreams himself, Kanté will be hoping his wealth and guidance can get the club back on track.
