Ngumoha reveals Iraola change that could boost his England chances | OneFootball

Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha has not enjoyed a blistering start to the season, but was named in England’s squad for their forthcoming UEFA Nations League matches.

Ngumoha has not registered a goal contribution in any of his five appearances across all competitions.

The 18-year-old, who is naturally a left winger, has been deployed by Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola on the right flank twice this season.

However, Ngumoha, speaking to talkSPORT on playing under Iraola, believes the Spaniard has helped him to become more unpredictable by playing on both attacking flanks.

“It’s been good. The gaffer at Liverpool has really been helpful. And all the coaching staff as well – I can’t speak highly enough of them.

“But I’m enjoying it. I’m playing left-wing, right wing as well. So it’s given me another tool to destroy defenders.”

The 18-year-old could stand a better chance of playing more regularly for England by being able to play on both flanks.

Ngumoha faces stiff competition for a permanent spot in Thomas Tuchel’s side and will be looking to make an impact in the forthcoming games.

The Liverpool youngster believes he can get into England’s Euros 2028 squad if he ‘keeps getting goals and assists’.

Tuchel handed Ngumoha his senior international debut in June’s friendly against New Zealand after naming him in England’s pre-World Cup training camp.

He is in contention to start when the Three Lions host Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
