FIXTURE:
FULL TIME! NEWCASTLE 2-3 LIVERPOOL
WHAT A GAME.
Newcastle do not deserve to be losers here, and probably should have won it on the balance of play, even with 10 men for the entire second half.
However, the champions have done it again, rescuing themselves with a late winner after throwing away a 2-0 lead.
Last week, it was Chiesa, and this week, it's Ngumoha amazingly.
This game had quite the build up, and it more than delivered.
The 16-year-old has scored the winner on his debut, and what a goal it is.
Neat play from Chiesa and Salah sees the ball put into the middle of the box, where Szoboszlai dummies it for the teenager to smash home brilliantly.
Heartbreak for Newcastle.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! LIVERPOOL HAVE WON IT!
Reo Ngumoha has won it in the 100th minute!!!
Amazingly, Newcastle look the more likely to score.
They have been the better team for much of this game.
11 minutes of added time!!!
Will we see a winner?
GOOOOOOOAL! NEWCASTLE EQUALISE!
Who needs Isak!!!!!
Pope goes long towards Dan Burn, who knocks the ball on for Osula to slip under Alisson from close range.
The 10 men have come from two down to draw level late on.
Fabian Schär is the next to go off, with Malick Thiaw on for his Newcastle debut.
Can one of the new boys get the goal?
Slot makes some changes too, with Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley on for Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
Jacob Ramsey is on for his debut in the Brazilian's place.
William Osula and Lewis Hall are also on, with Harvey Barnes and Kieran Trippier coming off.
15 mins to go.
Joelinton is the next to go off injured in what could be a very costly night for Newcastle.
Tonali is off with a shoulder injury, and Lewis Miley is on in his place.
Can the local lad make himself a hero?
Newcastle's hope is well and truly back.
Alisson just about clears away a corner at the second attempt.
Next goal here is huge - surely the scoring won't stop at three?
GOOOOAL! NEWCASTLE BACK IN IT!
The hosts are right back in it. Tonali whips the ball in and Bruno Guimarães meets it with a brilliant header that creeps in past Alisson.
A captain's goal!
What a start it's been for the striker.
This is how early into the second half that goal came.
Ekitike came very close to joining the Magpies this summer. It really couldn't be going worse for Eddie Howe's men.
Who would have seen this after how the opening half hour went?
GOAL! LIVERPOOL MAKE IT 2-0!
Almost from the kick off!
23 seconds into the second half, Hugo Ekitike makes it three in three for Liverpool with a fine finish.
Cody Gakpo pulled the ball back for the Frenchman, and he made no mistake.
SECOND HALF KICKS OFF!
RED CARD! GORDON IS OFF!
This half has ended diabolically for Newcastle, and the winger can have no complaints.
It's a totally unnecessary and dangerous tackle on Virgil van Dijk down the calf/achilles area, and he's dismissed after a VAR check.
Dan Burn goes into the book for chopping down Salah.
Frustrating end to the half for the hosts.
CHANCE!
It could be 2-0.
Salah whips the ball in from the left but Curtis Jones just can't get a good connection on it.
GOOOOAL! LIVERPOOL TAKE THE LEAD!
Well, wouldn't you know it.
Newcastle dominate for 35 minutes, and Liverpool take the lead.
It's Gravenberch who smashes home from the edge of the box, wrongfooting Nick Pope.
Undeserved but Arne Slot will not care one bit.
More of the same with Newcastle just not being able to apply the finishing touch.
Ibrahima Konaté has had a very poor half so far for Liverpool, it must be said.
30 minutes in and the champions have had a single touch in the Newcastle box.
They are very lucky to be level.
Newcastle are all over Liverpool, and Gordon, again, almost profits.
The former Everton man has scored in this fixture in each of the last two seasons, and has come closest today for the Magpies.
CHANCE!
Anthony Gordon heads over from a brilliant Harvey Barnes cross.
Would Alexander Isak have scored that? Almost certainly.
Liverpool have barely got Mo Salah involved, with Newcastle very much on top so far here.
Elanga has been Newcastle's standout so far, and his pace is troubling Milos Kerkez.
His run into the box eventually leads to a free-kick that Sandro Tonali gets horribly wrong, and puts out for a throw.
First shot on target of the game comes from Hugo Wirtz, who can't find the far corner with an effort from outside the box.
Plenty of feisty early tackles, and Ryan Gravenberch is the first into the book after eight minutes for a foul on Bruno Guimarães.
He won't be the last.
The noise inside the ground is incredible.
Anthony Elanga's winning of an early corner was near-celebrated like a goal.
If Newcastle can score first, this place will erupt.
KICK OFF!
And we're under way!
Minutes away from kick off at a raucous St. James'.
This should be a cracker.
All the talk in the buildup has been about the player who will not play, but the Alexander Isak saga will add a huge amount of extra spice to a classic Premier League clash.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of tonight's blockbuster clash between Newcastle United and Liverpool at St. James' Park.
