OGC Nice are continuing their search for a head coach, with Olivier Pantaloni in focus and Christophe Pelissier also in the frame.
According to L'Équipe, after a good final season with Lorient, Pantaloni is more than ever the leading contender to replace Claude Puel, though the club has yet to make a final call.
Pelissier left Auxerre in early June and is available, having kept the club in Ligue 1.
By contrast, the option of Sébastien Pocognoli, the former Monaco coach, appears to have faded.
OGCN are expected to make concrete progress on the appointment from Tuesday.
The squad’s return has been set for eight July, and the club will remain under the Ineos banner for a few more months after negotiations with an Anglo-Saxon buyer fell through. Planning now proceeds as if no short-term takeover will happen, which is now the most likely scenario.
