Nick Woltemade scoring his eighth and nine goals of the season on Friday night.
The last two months have seen the 23 year old score six times for Newcastle United and now three times for Germany.
These latest two classy finishes were so vital, as Germany look to make sure of qualification for the World Cup finals next summer in Canada, Mexico and the USA.
This 2-0 away win against Luxembourg, means that Germany will finish top of the group and automatically qualify, if they avoid defeat at home to Slovakia on Monday in the final round of group games.
Nick Woltemade has impressed so much, on and off the pitch, since arriving at St James’ Park.
Big Nick just the same with Germany, so modest and unassuming, a great character.
Nick Woltemade reflecting on this vital win and his latest two goals:
“The way we played in the first half wasn’t good.
“Too little intensity, too little pressure, little joy in our play.
“We were able to change that in the second half.
“Scored goals at the important moments and that’s what matters in the end.
“It wasn’t a feast for the eyes but I don’t really care about that.
“The most important thing is that we win games like this.
“We could have won the game by a bigger margin if we had finished our chances better.
“But we will take the victory and look forward to the next match.
“The game was hard work but that is part of it sometimes.
“Then it’s important to take your chances…which we did today.
“In the end, I don’t care whether it’s ‘Woltemade’ on the scoreboard twice or ‘Sane’ twice… and by the way, he played me some great passes today.
“It is always an honour for me when I can take on an important role in this team.”
This is the November 2025 international schedule for Newcastle United players:
Thursday 13 November
Moldova 0 Italy 2
Sandro Tonali playing the full match in this World Cup group qualifier and though it took until the 88th minute for the away side to score, they fully deserved the eventual 2-0 win. Tonali the key figure in midfield as a much changed and weakened Italy side dominated throughout (28 v 3 on shots, 13 v 1 corners, 65 v 3 player touches of the ball in the opposition box) but struggled to convert that into goals.
England 2 Serbia 0
A dominant England performance with a classy Saka strike giving the hosts a half-time lead. Dan Burn watched on from the bench as the Three Lions failed to take their chances, until the 90th minute, Eze matching Saka with the quality of his finish.
Friday 14 November
Luxembourg 0 Germany 2
Two quality second half finishes from Nick Woltemade, the first with his left and second using his right boot, firing Germany to this crucial 2-0 victory. They now just need to avoid defeat at home to Slovakia on Monday to automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.
Great to see Malick Thiaw as well get on the pitch, subbed on in the 79th minute as Woltemade played the full game.
