Lazio have been presented with the chance to sign West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug as Gennaro Gattuso steps up his search for a centre-forward. The German endured a difficult Serie A stint last season.

Gattuso has prioritised recruiting a new striker, with Petar Ratkov, Boulaye Dia and Gabriele Artistico currently in contention, while Tijjani Noslin can also fill the role. According to The Laziali, none has fully convinced the new head coach.

Fullkrug has been proposed to both Lazio and Genoa in recent days. The Biancocelesti are not wholly persuaded by the 33-year-old and continue to dream of landing his former AC Milan team-mate Santiago Gimenez.

A Werder Bremen academy product, Fullkrug has featured for several German clubs, including Borussia Dortmund. He joined West Ham in 2024 for €27 million but managed only three goals in 29 appearances.

After the Hammers signed Taty Castellanos from Lazio in January, he moved to AC Milan on loan under Max Allegri, scoring once in 20 outings. He returned to West Ham this summer on a deal running until June 2028, and the Championship club is keen to move him on.

For now, Lazio appear more inclined to pass on Fullkrug, and the same stance applies to Armando Broja after his difficult season at Burnley. Whether they can land Gimenez or pivot to a lower-profile target remains to be seen.
