Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly has withdrawn from the England squad due to injury.

O'Reilly had a difficult game in England's first fixture in the international break – the 3-2 defeat at home to Spain – and missed the subsequent 2-0 win away to Czechia.

The 21-year-old has now returned to his club to be assessed by the medical staff with Lewis Hall likely to continue in his place in the team for the upcoming games away to Croatia and then back at home to face Czechia once again.

Club manager Enzo Maresca will be hoping O'Reilly is fit enough for his team's next fixture away to Liverpool in the Premier League – the first since the club was found guilty of 114 charges.
