Nico Williams renews with Athletic Club until 2035 | OneFootball

Despite strong interest from Barcelona in securing the services of Nico Williams, the forward has decided to extend his stay with his 'beloved club', signing a new long-term contract.

Talented 22-year-old Williams penned a new agreement with Athletic Club this Friday, for ten(!) seasons keeping him in the Basque Country until June 2035. The new deal also includes a higher release clause.

"When I need to make decisions, for me, what matters most is the heart. I am where I want to be, with my people. This is my home. Aupa Athletic", stated the Spanish international, speaking to the club's official media.

In a statement shared on the official website, Athletic Bilbao described this process as a 'demonstration of loyalty' by the player, who had 'dazzling offers' in front of him with the renewal of Nico Williams a 'resounding success' for the team.

Having been developed in the youth ranks of the Leones de San Mamés, Williams has been at the club for seven seasons and played 167 matches for the Bilbao team.
