According to L’Équipe, Nicolas Cozza (25) has arrived in Nantes ahead of a deadline-day move from VfL Wolfsburg.
FC Nantes have been in the market for a left-back following the departure of stalwart figure Quentin Merlin to Olympique de Marseille (21) and Jaouen Hadjam (20) to Young Boys Bern.
Cozza joined Wolfsburg from Montpellier Hérault SC last winter during the January transfer window but has failed to establish himself in the team. The French fullback has only made three appearances this season matching his total for the year before.
At Nantes, Cozza would have no shortage of game time becoming a vital part of the defensive line. However, the defender was obviously not the first choice for Les Canaris since their public approach for Massadio Haïdara (31), whose transfer fell through due to RC Lens’s inability to replace their defender, was the club’s priority.
While an agreement for Boavista’s Bruno Onyemaech was also reached but Nantes ultimately did not want to spend the reported €3 million on the player.
