Nicolas de Tavernost succession: Russell Reynolds to lead LFP Media search

The LFP board has selected Russell Reynolds to run the search for a successor to Nicolas de Tavernost, the resigning chief executive of LFP Media. The decision was taken on Thursday morning.

According to L'Équipe, the appointment had been delayed since de Tavernost resigned in mid-February, though he agreed to stay on until a replacement is chosen.

The hold-up reflected a push by some for another firm, notably Spencer Stuart, which hired de Tavernost a little over a year ago.

The brief for the new LFP Media boss could change if a governance reform, which would abolish the LFP and create a clubs' company, finally reaches the National Assembly after Senate approval in June last year.

Ligue 1 clubs want to exert influence over the selection. The successor should be chosen by the end of the season.
