Nicolas de Tavernost, director general of LFP Media, will step down at the end of the season on 24 May, after the Ligue 1-Ligue 2 play-off second leg. According to L'Équipe, he informed club presidents in a letter, following his initial announcement in February.
He had told an LFP board meeting on 12 February that he planned to quit. More than two months on, he remains in post and will do so until the season concludes. LFP Media is the league’s commercial arm.
In the note, he flagged that the entire slate of Ligue 1+ programmes will be shown free to air for the 31st round of fixtures. He urged clubs to maximise visibility by opening their doors and engaging players and coaches to showcase the product.
He also encouraged clubs to make available to the platform their pre-season and European pre-qualifier matches this summer. With no official competitions between 23 May and 15 August, he said these games help maintain supporter links, club exposure and editorial and commercial continuity.
The search for his successor is ongoing and has yet to produce a candidate. Any appointment must satisfy LFP president Vincent Labrune and CVC, which invested 1.5 billion in French football for a 13% stake in LFP Media.
