Nicolas Jover, Arsenal’s set-piece coach, has a new contract agreed in 2025 that runs to 2027. According to The Athletic, it contains a clause that boosts his bonus for every Gunners goal scored from a set piece.

On Sunday Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in the London derby, scoring twice from corners. That result took their tally to 23rd and 24th set-piece goals in all competitions this season, 2025-2026.

Arsenal are the Premier League’s most prolific side from corners this season, with 16 in the league, a record. They have already secured nine wins via goals from these situations, another Premier League record.

This efficiency is not by chance, it reflects a carefully devised strategy led by Jover within Mikel Arteta’s staff.

A former video analyst at Montpellier from 2009 to 2016, Jover spent three seasons at Brentford before joining Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City staff in 2019 on Arteta’s recommendation. Arteta then pushed to bring him to Arsenal in summer 2021 and regards him as the best in his field.
