Nicolás Otamendi confirmed his Benfica exit after the final league match against Estoril, and the centre-back remains in the spotlight.
According to Glorioso 1904, the farewells are complete, yet he stayed in Lisbon and attended Bad Bunny’s show at Estádio da Luz.
He is keeping himself ready for World Cup 2026, continuing to train at Benfica’s Seixal facilities before linking up with Argentina.
Despite being 38, his conditioning remains striking, and he has recently been seen working flat out in the first-team gym.
The report indicates his next move could be River Plate, although a possible Benfica proposal has also been mentioned in recent days.
He signs off with four trophies, one league title, one Taça da Liga and two Supertaças Cândido de Oliveira, after six seasons in which he became a leading figure at the Luz.
