Quashie took a fairly positive view of yesterday's result against Luton, despite Albion's frustrations.

Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Nigel Quashie believes his former side's draw against Luton Town is a positive one.

He took to X last night after seeing the Baggies clinch a point from Kenilworth Road, during what has been a difficult run of form for Carlos Corberan's side.

Coming into yesterday's game, Albion would have been the favourites to win despite not having the home advantage, with Luton making a dreadful start to the season.

The Hatters started the evening in the relegation zone and wouldn't have been high on confidence, especially after Josh Maja put Albion 1-0 up just before the interval.

This was a gutting blow for Rob Edwards and his team, having enjoyed a much better half than the visitors, who had barely threatened until that point.

The second half was a lively affair and both teams probably could have won the game in the end, with Tahith Chong scoring an equaliser for the hosts on the hour mark.

But neither side could secure a second goal in the end and the game ended 1-1.

This result doesn't help either side majorly, with Luton climbing out of the relegation zone after last night's result but at major risk of falling back into the bottom three at 5pm today.

Albion, meanwhile, were unable to end their winless run and could potentially fall out of the play-offs this afternoon, with Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Watford all in action today.

The fact they managed to get a point out of a game they didn't play too well in was a positive, as well as the performance of Karlan Grant, who continues to impress in a West Brom shirt this season.

Nigel Quashie issues West Brom verdict after Luton Town draw

Quashie could have criticised Albion after the final whistle last night, with their winless run continuing.

But he took a more sympathetic view, posting on X: "I’ve played against Luton a few times in my career. A tight pitch with no room to breathe, they will bang balls in behind and look to pick up the pieces.

"It’s not a nice place to be in midfield when they keep missing that area of the pitch out.

"A tough place to go and get points and if you come away with anything then take what you can and get out of there because it’s not [a] nice game to play in let alone watch.

"Safe journey back #Baggies, 1pt is better than nothing!"

West Brom will be frustrated with winless run despite Luton Town point

Albion's point at Luton isn't a bad one, all things considered.

They didn't play that well but still managed to secure a draw, with a moment of magic from Maja helping them to earn a point.

However, they still have the right to be frustrated, considering they are on a long, winless run.

They could have been in a much better position following an excellent start to the 2024/25 campaign.

However, they can't change the past now, and they will need to focus on the future, using their hunger to secure some much-needed wins.
