Niger: Sahel club terminates contract with its coach

Following the "poor results" recorded by the team in recent weeks, the executive board of Sahel Sporting Club has decided to end its collaboration with Guy Ismaël Boubacar.

The executive board of Sahel Club could not accept the early elimination from the Round of 16 of the Niger National Cup. Sahel suffered a defeat on Saturday against Sonincha, the club from Tillabéri, with a score of 2-1 in the Round of 16.

With the team struggling in the Premier League (13th place after 15 rounds), Saturday's disappointment was the final straw. This situation did not go unnoticed by the management of the most decorated club in Niger, which decided on the immediate departure of coach Guy Ismaël Boubacar, who took charge in September 2025.

In an official statement, the club confirmed that the rest of the technical staff will continue their duties.
