Niklas Süle, who ended his professional career in early May at 30, is set to continue in the amateur game by signing for SV Tiefenbach in Germany’s ninth tier.

"Two of my best friends play for SV Tiefenbach, and one of them is the coach," said Süle. "It is an absolute gift to share the pitch with my mates again." Süle told Sky Sport Germany.

"I want to experience amateur football, where everything is about the game itself, not business or money."

The former Germany defender won 49 caps and scored one goal at international level.

Across 13 professional seasons in Germany, he played for Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, becoming a five-time German champion and a Champions League winner in 2020 with Bayern.
