Serhou Guirassy is now four games across all competitions without scoring a goal for Borussia Dortmund, but Niko Kovač is backing his misfiring striker to find the target again.
BVB’s head coach also hinted that Guirassy may be given a ‘creative rest’ against Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday night.
Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Kovač said: “Of course, I can also see that he’s not scoring goals at the moment. Such situations do occur.
“Nevertheless, he’s very important to us. It’s certainly possible that he’ll get a creative break at some point.”
Guirassy has six goals in 11 games across all competitions for Dortmund this season and he’s started in each of his seven Bundesliga appearances this campaign, but it’s possible that Kovač could try something different against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Karim Adeyemi should start, while Kovač confirmed that Fabio Silva isn’t ready for 90 minutes yet after he continues his recovery from an adductor injury.
But the Portuguese forward could start alongside Adeyemi, with Maximilian Beier – who scored a game-winning goal at the weekend – again an option for die Schwarzgelben.
