Nine people were injured on Saturday morning in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, close to where England will base themselves for the World Cup. None of the injuries are life-threatening.

L'Équipe reports that the incident happened on Troost Avenue, very near the team's planned training ground and slightly farther from the hotel they are due to use during the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.

England have not yet arrived in Kansas City, as they are finishing their preparations in Palm Beach, Florida.

They beat New Zealand 1-0 there on Saturday and face Costa Rica on Wednesday at 22:00.

At the World Cup, England are in Group L with Croatia, Ghana and Panama. None of those group matches will be staged in Kansas City.
