NJ Transit ‘to charge’ $100 for MetLife World Cup trains

According to The Athletic, NJ Transit plans to price return tickets at around $100 on trains to MetLife Stadium during the World Cup.

That figure would be nearly eight times the usual fare, estimated at $12.90, for the East Rutherford stadium.

A formal decision is due in the coming days, and similar pricing was applied for last July’s Club World Cup final between PSG and Chelsea, which finished 0-3.

France are set to be affected, with their opener against Senegal on 16 June at MetLife Stadium. Their round of 32 would also be there if they finish top of their group.

The World Cup runs from 11 June to 19 July, with the final scheduled at the same venue on 19 July.
