Alexander Nübel remains an issue at FC Bayern. His loan to VfB Stuttgart is coming to an end, but his prospects in Munich are unclear. Behind the scenes, a sale is increasingly coming to the fore.
Alexander Nübel moved from FC Schalke 04 to FC Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020. After a few appearances, loan spells at AS Monaco and then at VfB Stuttgart followed, where the goalkeeper has been a regular since 2023. His current loan expires after this season, but a return with a clear role is considered unlikely internally.
The 29-year-old’s contract in Munich runs until 2030, but there are signs that he will leave the record champions. Even if Manuel Neuer ’s career comes to an end, those in charge already see Jonas Urbig as an internal option for the future.

So it’s no wonder that a departure in the summer is being discussed intensively. According to fussballdaten.de, FC Bayern are said to be asking for a transfer fee of €25 to €30 million for Alexander Nübel. VfB Stuttgart, on the other hand, are hoping for a solution in the €15 to €18 million range, according to the report, and are banking on the goalkeeper’s desire for planning security.
Financially, however, Nübel would have to make cuts if he stayed in the Ländle. While his contract at FC Bayern is said to provide for an annual salary of around ten million euros, Stuttgart could only pay around half of that, according to the report.
Despite all the speculation, Nübel still has some hope of becoming FC Bayern’s number one. According to fussballdaten.de, Bayern believe Nübel is capable of becoming number one in the short term if Neuer ends his career in the summer and Urbig is not yet trusted to take this step. However, Urbig has recently made a mature and strong impression between the posts, despite a blunder against Augsburg.
