Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has admitted he is unsure what to expect from Bristol City ahead of his side’s clash against them following the appointment of Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson has taken charge of Bristol City after the departure of Gerhard Struber, stepping in for the final stretch of the season in what some see as an eyebrow raising move.

The veteran manager’s wealth of experience will play a key role for Bristol City for the rest of the campaign and he is looking to steady the ship at Ashton Gate.

The Robins endured a poor run of form under Struber and are currently on a six-game winless streak, which has left them sitting 16th in the table with 53 points after 31 matches, with their playoff hopes going up in smoke.

The Charlton boss pointed out that his side have frequently faced teams in transitional moments, making it harder to anticipate their approach.

Despite the unpredictability surrounding the opposition after Hodgson’s arrival, Jones stressed that his focus remains firmly on his own team and their performance.

“We seem to have made a habit of it this year.

“I have no idea what Bristol City are going to do and what shape they will be in, all I can affect is us.”

Jones’ side are among the lowest-scoring teams in the competition, having scored just 36 goals so far and Hodgson’s renowned organisational skills could make the Robins a tough nut to crack.

Hodgson has had little time to work with his new team though and Jones will hope that means Charlton can take advantage.

Charlton would move level on points with Bristol City if they secure a win at home on Good Friday, with just a three point gap separating the two sides in the Championship table.
