Galatasaray forward Noa Lang suffered a serious hand injury during the Champions League last 16 at Anfield, and UEFA is to investigate, En Son Haber reported.

On Wednesday, in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray, Lang cut his finger after colliding with an advertising board and was taken off with oxygen support.

He sustained a deep cut to his right thumb and was due to undergo surgery in Liverpool within hours, with the club’s medical staff involved.

Such incidents are rare in football.

The investigation is aimed at establishing responsibility for the accident.
