Sport Bild reports that Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu will remain absent from Freiburg team training camp ahead of his move to the Premier League. Atubolu’s move away from the Bundesliga has long been a forgone conclusion. Freiburg immediately procured a replacement for their soon-to-depart player (Werder Bremen’s Mio Backhaus) almost immediately after the 2025/26 Bundesliga concluded.
Sport Bild nevertheless has some new news to offer on Atubolu’s impending departure. The 24-year-old is evidently so intent on heading to the Premier League that he has turned down interest from Juventus. Insofar as which Premier League club Atubolu will end up with, the field has been narrowed to two.
Sport Bild claims that Atubolu has already turned down offers from Premier League newcomers Hull City AFC and Coventry City FC, as he prefers to join a club in England that is considered to be more established. Aston Villa (who have already signed Atubolu’s Freiburg teammate Johan Manzambi) and Bournemouth (now coached by German Marco Rose) appear the two most likely clubs to secure Atubolu’s services.
