Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign Sandro Tonali in a club record deal.
The North London side have agreed a package that could reach £100m including add-ons, with Spurs set to pay an initial £92.5m for Tonali, with an additional £7.5m in proposed add-ons based on multiple Champions League qualifications, according toThe Athletic.
The fee will set a new club record, eclipsing the £65m fee paid to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in 2024. Spurs have also agreed an £85m fee with West Ham United for midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
Roberto De Zerbi's side are embarking on a bold summer of recruitment after consecutive 17th-place finishes in thePremier League.
The club's board have promised to raise the level of investment in transfer fees and wages in a bid to bring top talent to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The signing of Tonali will represent a significant coup for Spurs, who are without European football for next season. Tonali has been an integral part of the Newcastle side under Eddie Howe and made 53 appearances across all competitions last season.
Tonali and Fernandes will become the latest new signings at Spurs, following the free transfer captures of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka, while Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke has also arrived in a £52m deal.
To offset those incomings, Spurs have agreed the £46m sale of Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic to Brighton.
The North Londoners have also received an enquiry from Newcastle for Archie Gray, with sales expected as Spurs look to lighten a loaded midfield group.
