Northampton Town have sacked manager Kevin Nolan after a run of just one win in their last 16 League One matches.

The Cobblers sit 23rd in the table, three points from safety, and Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon proved the final straw. Nolan’s departure was confirmed on Monday afternoon.

The 43-year-old took charge in December 2024 on a two-and-a-half-year deal and won 22 of his 70 matches at the helm. He steered the club to survival last season after replacing Jon Brady but has struggled to arrest a sharp drop in form this term.

Northampton had been 12th at Christmas, but have taken just eight points from their last 16 league games, leaving them in serious danger of relegation to League Two.

Technical director Colin Calderwood will take interim charge, assisted by Ian Sampson, while the club begins the search for a new manager.
