Northern Ireland face Germany in Monday’s World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park. The match will be an exciting encounter as the result will be very important for both teams as they look to secure a direct World Cup Qualification.
Michael O’Neill’s men find themselves in the thick of the qualification race, with both nations, along with Slovakia, in the same group, level on points.
The hosts will be without Conor Bradley, due to suspension, after picking up a booking in Friday’s Slovakia victory. The Liverpool defender had been instrumental in the 2-0 triumph, earning widespread praise for his display. Brodie Spencer from Oxford United is poised to step into the right-back position in Bradley’s absence.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell retains the goalkeeper’s jersey with regular number one Pierce Charles still recovering from a shoulder injury. The defensive absence of Ciaron Brown through injury continues. O’Neill is expected to maintain the successful three-man defensive structure that proved effective against Slovakia, featuring Trai Hume, Daniel Ballard and Paddy McNair.
Windsor Park has become a fortress for the Green and White Army, who have avoided defeat in seven consecutive home internationals, including impressive displays against quality opposition like Switzerland and Denmark.
Possible Northern Ireland starting XI: Peacock-Farrell; Hume, McNair, Toal; Spencer, McCann, S. Charles, Devenny; Galbraith, Price; Reid.
The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Monday, 13th October.
The match will be telecast live on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website for viewers in the United Kingdom.
