Norway boss Stale Solbakken says he would not swap Erling Haaland for anyone else in world football.
The Manchester City striker scored a late winner as Norway progressed to the round of 16 of the World Cup, where they will face Brazil, after beating Ivory Coast 2-1.
“I think he’s the greatest goal scorer in the world,” Solbakken said.
“I think there’s no doubt about that, and you know that today, he wasn’t that much involved, but always you know that, if you get that chance, I think he had one big chance in the first half, and obviously scored the winning goal again.
“And that is out of this world for the national team as well. I think that he brings calmness to the team, when you have a player like him who is, in my view, really underrated in terms of keeping the ball up. Because when you see, he didn’t lose one ball today. He wasn’t that much involved, but he didn’t lose any balls.
“I think also that he feels proud to be part of this, that it’s a team that works together. He also needs service and has got some service in this World Cup. And to score five goals in the World Cup in three games for a little country like Norway, I don’t think even he had thought that he could do that before. So all the credit to him.
“I would never swap him for anyone because he’s the greatest goal scorer in world football today.”
