Norway’s prime minister Jonas Gahr Store has again underlined his Leeds United allegiance on the eve of tonight’s World Cup quarter-final against England, a 10pm kick-off in Miami. Norway face Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions for a place in the semi-finals.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds enjoy a sizeable Norwegian and Scandinavian following dating back to the Don Revie era, and Norway star Erling Haaland’s affection for the club is well known.
Store is also a Whites supporter, a point highlighted during a meeting last year with former prime minister Keir Starmer about strengthening UK ties with Norway and working with allies on national and economic security.
At that meeting, Store welcomed British troops training in Norway during winter conditions, then noted other shared interests, adding that Starmer had congratulated him on Leeds returning to the Premier League after one season.
Starmer responded by again offering congratulations to Leeds on their promotion.
Store has previously posted his support on Instagram, including an image of himself standing before five Leeds United flags on a house wall in Norway.
