Almost 150 Norwegian Leeds United supporters have chartered a private plane to watch Saturday's Elland Road meeting with Wolves, kicking off a packed two-day visit.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, 146 members of the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia will fly 480 miles from Kristiansand Airport to Leeds Bradford on Friday, with some travelling veterans and others bound for their first glimpse of Elland Road.
The club will host them on Friday, including a guided stadium tour, dinner at their hotel and a relaxed get-together at the Scarborough Hotel pub in the city centre.
On Saturday, Leeds face Wolves with the opportunity to move nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
Terje Ulven, from Arendal in southern Norway, said the group had hired a private aircraft from the south, noting strong Leeds support locally. Many hold season tickets and travel often, while for some this trip will be their first.
Ulven previously joined a slightly smaller party in 2019, flying over for the Aston Villa match in which Marcelo Bielsa instructed his side to concede, a surreal afternoon he recalls vividly.
He returns regularly, attending about 12 matches a season, and traces his allegiance back to childhood, when he chose a blue bag and with it Leeds rather than his brother’s Liverpool. Friendships in the city and the club’s warm welcome keep Norway’s fans coming back, and he is relishing Saturday.
