Atlético de Madrid are on their way to matching results with LaLiga leaders Barcelona while keeping pressure on bitter rival Real Madrid as they comfortably lead Real Oviedo in the first half.
Coming into the weekend on the back of a midweek Champions League triumph over Inter, Diego Simeone's troops looked to remain the in-form side in the Spanish top flight, and, so far, have Alexander Sørloth to thank for their two-goal cushion.

The towering Norwegian international centre-forward struck in the 16th and 26th minutes at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, lifting him to 24 league goals for the club since the start of the 2024/25 season.
Impressively, that total has eclipsed that of both Swedish star Alexander Isak and mercurial Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé.
With this sort of goalscoring form, Sørloth looks primed to not only help Atleti push their league rivals to the limit but also help Norway on their quest to be viewed as a dark horse at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
