The Canaries and the Gers have both been interested in Parfait Guiagon, but a fresh issue has arisen.
A transfer battle between Norwich City and Scottish giants Rangers looks to be all but over, with neither side winning the race for Ivorian winger Parfait Guiagon.
According to 225 Foot, both the Canaries and the Gers had registered an interest in the 24-year-old earlier this month, after a stunning first-half of the season with Belgian Pro League side, Charleroi.
Guiagon has scored six goals and registered one assist in Belgium's top flight in 17 appearances, leading to the reported interest in the talented wide player.
Nonetheless, Norwich and Rangers have now been knocked back in the race to sign Guiagon, despite both clubs making enquiries about the availability of the Ivory Coast international.
Danny Rohl has turned Rangers' season around in Scotland, with the Glasgow outfit now just three points behind league leaders Hearts. Meanwhile, former Gers boss Phillipe Clement is hoping to rescue the Canaries from relegation to League One after a dreadful start to the season at Carrow Road.

Bringing in quality attacking players is one way to avoid the drop, and Guiagon would have helped improve the Norfolk side out wide, but as per La Dernière Heure, the winger's agent has dismissed a move to Britain.
In fact, the 24-year-old is set to stay at Charleroi, according to his agent, and he is happy in Belgium as his team look to push towards the European battle and away from the relegation scrap.
Guiagon has made 88 appearances for Charleroi since joining from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023, scoring 20 goals and picking up 15 assists and it looks likely that he will be adding to those statistics in the coming months.
Norwich have already made one addition this month, with Ali Ahmed the newest recruit at Carrow Road, and bringing in another left-sided wide player would have been questionable.
Nevertheless, the main focus for the Canaries throughout January will be keeping hold of Josh Sargent after he was the subject of significant interest throughout the summer, and he could truly be the difference between survival and relegation.

While the USA forward has not quite been at the top of his game this season in terms of goal output, there are few players in the Championship who posses the talent that Sargent does and he proved that last season as he challenged for the league's Golden Boot, despite missing months of action through injury.
If Norwich do lose their talisman, then Clement will have an extremely tough job replacing him. Jovon Makama has been fantastic this season, but the support of Sargent has only helped the 21-year-old unlock his full potential and therefore he must not leave.
