Norwich City have enquired about the possibility of signing Lawrence Agyekum
Norwich City are optimistic about a potential promotion push next season after a strong end to 2025/26 under Philippe Clement.
The Canaries had a difficult first half of the campaign, but the Belgian turned things around after arriving as head coach in November.
The 52-year-old oversaw a ninth place finish, with the Norfolk outfit missing out on a play-off place by eight points.
But the competition will expand to include two more teams from 2026/27, meaning the top eight can all be in the mix for promotion when the next regular season ends.
So far this summer, the Championship side have added Sam Field on a permanent basis after an initial loan, as well as Andre Brooks from Sheffield United.
Bruno Alves has also joined Norwich on loan from Cruzeiro, but that’s unlikely to be the end of the club’s transfer business between now and when the market shuts on 1 September.

It has been reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri that Norwich are targeting a move for Cercle Brugge’s Lawrence Agyekum.
It’s believed that the Belgian club are open to a deal for the Ghana international, who has a contract until June 2029.
The 22-year-old made the move to Brugge from RB Salzburg on an initial loan basis in 2024 before signing a permanent deal last summer.
However, he could be on the move again this year, with the Canaries among the teams eyeing his signature.
Norwich face competition from Austrian side Rapid Wien, who could bring him back to the Bundesliga, where he previously made just three appearances for Salzburg.
The Ghana international made the move to Europe in 2022 after coming through at WAFA, and he’s cemented himself as a core part of Cercle Brugge’s first team over the last two seasons.
Agyekum has made 62 appearances in the Belgian Pro League, contributing two goals and four assists, helping the club come 14th in consecutive campaigns.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee it will take Cercle Brugge to cash in on the midfielder, but it’s understood that they are willing to accept a deal.
It’s been claimed that both Norwich and Rapid Wien have made an enquiry regarding the possibility of signing Agyekum, but no formal offers have yet been made.
Clement’s side begin the new Championship season at home to West Brom on 15 August.
Agyekum has taken on many roles with Cercle Brugge, including playing across the right flank, as well as in midfield.
That kind of versatility can make him a very useful addition to the squad, and could help fill in some gaps that can emerge through the season through injury or suspension.
He is also only 22, and thus has plenty of room to improve and develop, so this could prove a smart addition if a deal can be done at the right price.
Obviously, Agyekum will have to adapt to English football, but he already has experience of moving from Ghana to Austria, and then to Belgium, so that could help him make quick work of settling into life in the Championship, if a move comes to fruition.
