Former Norwich City target Kasper Hogh has completed an eight-figure switch to Celtic, but they surely won't care

Norwich City's summer window hasn't exactly been as busy as some Canaries supporters may have hoped, but with a few deals across the line, they may take solace in knowing their previous deals in the January window have saved them a pretty penny.

The entrance and exit doors at Carrow Road haven't been especially busy yet this summer, though they have still been in use.

Each of Shane Duffy, Emiliano Marcondes, and Jeffrey Schlupp has left the club at the end of their contracts, whilst backup goalkeeper George Long has completed a permanent move to Southampton after a loan spell on the South Coast.

Three fresh faces have arrived through the doors so far, namely Brazilian defender Bruno Alves, who joins on loan from Cruzeiro, midfielder Sam Field for a potential £2.8 million from Queens Park Rangers, and winger Andre Brooks in an £8 million deal from Sheffield United.

Belgian head coach Philippe Clement will be targeting a place in the Championship top eight next season, and as the former Rangers and Monaco boss continues to stamp his authority on the Canaries, he must love the work the club did in the most recent January window.

When Clement took the reins at Carrow Road in November 2025 following the dismissal of Liam Manning, the Belgian looked to utilise the January window to improve key areas of the squad.

Each of Sam Field, Ali Ahmed, and Mohamed Toure was brought to the club, the latter joining in an initial £2.6 million deal from Danish side Randers.

Following the sale of Josh Sargent to Toronto for over £20 million, another option up top to Jovon Makama was required, as Toure headed to Norfolk to do just that.

However, the Australian international was not Clement's first option to fill the void left by Sargent, with that role going to Danish striker Kasper Hogh, who was enjoying an excellent year in Norway's Arctic Circle for Bodo Glimt.

Hogh, who has recently completed a deal worth £11 million to join Scottish side Celtic, would find the back of the net for Bodo in games against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan in the Champions League, as the Dane instead chose to remain in Norway until their European tour was over.

Now, the 25-year-old heads to Glasgow instead, but Norwich and Clement will be more than satisfied with their alternatives.

After joining on deadline day in the winter window, Toure went on to score nine and grab three assists in 11 league games for the Canaries, including two hat-tricks, taking the Championship by storm.

A muscle injury would rule him out for five consecutive games, but he would more than adequatly replace Jovon Makama in the attack, who himself suffered a long-term injury in the second half of the campaign.

Makama joined Norwich from Lincoln City in the summer for just £1.2 million, netting ten and notching an assist in 28 league games during his first year in the second tier.

Heading into next season, Clement has a welcome selection headache to make as to who to start up front for Norwich, which is always a good problem to have as a manager.

Signed for around a third of what Hogh just moved to Celtic for, Makama and Toure have proven to be lethal in front of goal during their limited minutes in the Championship, and could be set to explode next season.

Whilst Hogh's goalscoring record for Bodo is exemplary, with 54 goals and 22 assists in 103 appearances across all competitions for the club, his eight-figure fee seemed steep for Norwich.

The Dane may well have been a success at Carrow Road, but with Makama and Toure as alternatives, they surely won't care about missing out on him now.

Time will tell how Hogh will perform up in Scotland, but the Canaries will surely feel as though they have come out as the winners on this deal.
