Norwich City supporters have been reacting the news that Ben Chrisene and Mathias Kvistgaarden are set for spells on the sidelines.

Norwich City head coach Liam Manning has confirmed that defender Ben Chrisene and striker Mathias Kvistgaarden are set for extended spells on the sidelines with injury, much to the disappointment of Canaries supporters.

Despite conceding a 96th-minute equaliser after being under pressure for much of the game, Norwich picked up a decent point as they drew 1-1 at Coventry City on Saturday, but their valiant effort at the CBS Arena has come at a big cost, and they will now be without Chrisene and Kvistgaarden for their upcoming fixtures.

After struggling for minutes in the early weeks of the season, Chrisene started the Canaries' last two games against Blackburn Rovers and Coventry, but he was replaced by Jack Stacey in the 67th minute on Saturday after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Kvistgaarden made a slow start to his Norwich career following his £6.9 million summer move from Brondby, but he got off the mark for his new club when he scored the opener against the Sky Blues in the 17th minute before being forced off in the second half with a knee problem.

The Canaries have lost both of their opening two league games at Carrow Road this season against Millwall and Middlesbrough, and they will be looking to record their first home win of the campaign when they welcome out-of-form Wrexham to Norfolk this weekend, but they will be without Chrisene and Kvistgaarden for the visit of Phil Parkinson's side.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Manning did deliver some positive injury news, with the Norwich boss confirming that Jeffrey Schlupp, Lucien Mahovo and Jose Cordoba are all making good progress in their recoveries, but the prognosis was much less encouraging for Chrisene.

"Ben's going to be eight weeks I think, he picked up a hamstring injury. We're always conscious about giving out time scales, it comes down to how the lad's body feels after the rehab," Manning told the club's official website.

"It won't require surgery. It's very unfortunate, he had done terrifically well at Blackburn before going on international duty and now this, he had started to find the level."

Manning also revealed that Kvistgaarden could be out for around six weeks, and he admitted that the timing of the injury is particularly unfortunate for the Dane given the improvement in his performances in recent games.

"Mathias is going to be six weeks roughly without being held to those timeframes. It was an innocuous landing. It doesn't require surgery which is good news but we'll see how he responds to the rehab," Manning said.

"It's hugely disappointing, his first goal as well, we'd seen a change in him in the last few weeks. He had settled and been sharper, clearer in what we needed him to do. It's going to happen in football, that's the importance of depth and competition. It's an opportunity for someone else to step up."

Norwich supporters have become accustomed to seeing their stars pick up long-term injuries in recent years, and in response to a post on X by BBC reporter Rob Butler announcing the news about Chrisene and Kvistgaarden, many vented their frustration at seeing more players enter the treatment room.

However, others were less disappointed to lose Chrisene and Kvistgaarden for a long period, with some urging Manning to give the likes of Matej Jurasek and Jovon Makama a chance in their absence.
