Norwich City have been linked with a January deal to sign Celtic winger Hyun-jun Yang.

According to journalist Anthony Joseph, the Canaries are set to reignite their interest in the South Korea international when the market opens in the new year.

Yang has featured 11 times in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, including eight stars, but has yet to contribute a goal or an assist.

This January will be Philippe Clement’s first opportunity to make changes to the first team squad at Carrow Road after being appointed as manager in November.

Norwich are at risk of relegation to League One, so will be keen to reinforce the side for the second half of the Championship campaign.

Two key factors to Hyun-jun Yang signing for Norwich

When asked about the potential signing of Yang amid competition from Birmingham City, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes claimed that reassurances over game time and matching the Blues’ possible wage offer will be key to signing the winger.

He is unsure if the 23-year-old will be good enough to make an improvement to Clement’s squad, but that their lack of options out wide mean that he should be in with a greater chance of regular minutes by signing for the Canaries.

“I think it’s likely that we could have the pulling power, especially because we know that we don’t have many options on the wing, so he’ll probably get reassurance that he will get game,” Downes told Football League World.

“I don’t know much about him; I know he has been highly rated in the past, hasn’t been doing as well recently I don’t think.

“So, I don’t hate it as long as it’s a cheap enough deal.

“But I think that we would be able to beat Birmingham to it.

“The only thing is they would need to try match the wage demands because obviously Birmingham would be able to pay more than us.

“So, just sort of depends on what they’re going to promise in terms of starting position and money.”

Norwich are currently 23rd in the Championship table following their 1-1 draw with Preston North End last weekend.

Jovon Makama had put Clement's side ahead in the closing stages, but an equaliser from Will Keane deep into stoppage time meant the spoils were shared at Deepdale.

The result means the Norfolk outfit have won two from seven under their new manager, leaving them three points adrift of safety before Christmas.

Next up for Norwich is a home clash against Charlton Athletic on 26 December in a 3pm kick-off.

Norwich have one key factor that can swing Hyun-jun Yang signing

Norwich are struggling at the bottom end of the Championship table, but there is still time for the club to turn things around.

The signing of Yang could be a catalyst for improved form in the final third, and the lack of obstacles to becoming a key part of the side could sway him to a move to Carrow Road instead of for Birmingham.

While the Blues’ ambitions are quite grand, that might not be enough for the winger if he’s not going to be playing regularly.

If Norwich can get this deal over the line, then it could be what they need to start providing more attacking threat under Clement.
