Norwich City have been told to avoid replacing Josh Sargent with the QPR striker

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer.
Clubs such as Wolfsburg, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Roma are all rumoured to be keen on acquiring the 25-year-old’s services.
Football League World exclusively revealed that Scott Parker’s Burnley side also hold a keen interest in the Norwich forward.
With the USMNT forward’s Canaries exit growing ever the more likely, Liam Manning and Co. will have started outlining potential replacements.
Fellow Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion are eyeing up a transfer for QPR marksman Charlie Kelman, who scored 27 goals whilst on loan with Leyton Orient last term.
The 23-year-old could be a solid option to fill the void left by Sargent at Carrow Road, but Football League World's Norwich City fan pundit, Zeke Downes, believes the club should be aiming higher.
“If we do lose Sargent then we are only left with Ante Crnac up front,” stated Zeke. “Although he did well last year, you've got to think that he might need more help around him.
“He may well end up being as good as Sargent. It's obviously a massive risk. The club might have really high expectations, and he could be the guy that replaces Sargent in the line-up but then either way I think you need another player that's got experience and is proven in this league or even in a better league.
“I don't think buying a player that was in League One is the best idea, unless you're going to get two strikers and then you can maybe get Kelman as another option.
“But I would much prefer that we looked elsewhere and recruited a player that's easily going to drop into this team, who has had a lot of experience at this level or higher.”
As Zeke alluded to, Kelman hasn’t operated out of the Championship yet and therefore is still unproven at that level.
However, at just 23 years of age, the striker’s flying form in League One has shown that second-tier football is the natural next step in his career progression.
His ability to make devastating runs in behind defences will always cause problems for the opposition, no matter the level and would provide Norwich with a different outlet up front.
It seems likely, whether at QPR or West Brom, that Kelman will be playing in the Championship next season and is clearly highly rated by those two outfits.
Therefore, Norwich could make a move whilst a deal is still possible to ensure they have a source of goals willing to replace Sargent, if their current hitman does exit the club.
