The Norwich City boss had admitted that there may not be many more player incomings at Carrow Road this summer

Norwich City have been quick out of the blocks in the summer transfer window, with three key signings made at Carrow Road already.

The Canaries made a splash by dropping an initial £8 million to sign Andre Brooks from divisional rivals Sheffield United, but also moved swiftly to ensure that Sam Field's loan from QPR was made permanent and also brought in promising centre-back Bruno Alves on loan from Cruzeiro.

There arguably wasn't much improving that Norwich needed to do this summer, given how impressive they were in the second half of last season under Clement.

2026 saw the Canaries pick up the second-most points in the division, averaging two points per game across 22 league outings. If it wasn't for the dire start to the campaign under Liam Manning, in which they were second-bottom upon his departure, they'd have easily finished in the top six.

So, doing business early and allowing new signings to settle into an already strong squad was key for Philippe Clement this summer, and despite there being a month still until the new campaign kicks off, the Belgian isn't expecting much more in terms of additions.

Norwich now have a strong blend of experience and exciting youth across the board in their squad, and Canaries boss Phillipe Clement admitted that there was a strong incentive to hit the ground running to bolster the team this summer.

Per the Pink Un, the Belgian head coach even said that some of his family holiday was spent assessing targets, so they move quickly when the window opened on June 15.

"No [days off], but I don't mind that. It's what I want. I don't want to lose any second or lose a transfer because I wasn't available," he explained.

"Ben [Knapper] knows, we have been in contact a lot with him and Lee [Dunn] about the transfers we've done already. Three transfers. That's a lot compared to other teams.

"We could act really fast, also with the owners stepping in, like was the case with Andre, because it's a big investment for the club, so I think a lot of the good work has been done already. We're not going to do many more transfers, so I'm happy about that."

Norwich are still on the hunt for a new left-back, but when it comes to adding experience in the middle of the park and a new star right-winger, Clement is happy with the business thus far.

"You have to look for a mix in the squad," he continued. "We spoke about adding more experienced players; that was the first idea, also for that right wing position, but then there was a beautiful situation with Andre, who I think is going to be a really big transfer for the future. I see really huge potential."

Brooks showed last season that he's someone on the brink of exploding into a top winger at Championship level. Taking him from a direct rival in Sheffield United is one thing, but if he can find that potential at Carrow Road, Norwich could be a dangerous prospect next season.

With the squad close to completion, Norwich almost have a head start on a lot of their Championship peers, who may see their transfer business bleed into the start of the season and continue right until the deadline on September 1st.

Now, Clement can focus all his energy on getting the side ready for the campaign opener in the EFL Cup against MK Dons on August 8th, and their league opener the following week against West Brom.

"I've been in situations in the past where you get to late July, August, and I had to watch every evening again, new players, and you look at 300 players all summer long, because deals collapse at the last moment," the Canaries boss added.

"You lose a lot of energy with that. Now we don't have much to do anymore, because a lot of things were done last season. A young group was made, they showed potential, and we want to push them again at a higher level, so you need to give them chances."

Norwich were busy in the transfer window last season, too. In January, under Clement, they added the likes of Mohamed Toure, Ali Ahmed, Paris Maghoma and brought in Field on loan, so a lot of the Belgian's work ahead of this first full year was done midway through last.

Those four, plus the likes of Jovon Makama, Jacob Wright and Pelle Mattsson, all have the potential to grow further in the upcoming season, and players such as Mathias Kvistgaarden, Papa Diallo and Mirko Topic, who got off on the wrong foot due to injury and poor form, aren't being given up on just yet.

The future is bright at Carrow Road, and with a full, uninterrupted pre-season, Norwich stand a good chance to begin next season where they left off last term, which could set the foundations for a Premier League return.
