Norwich midfielder Normann on Prem debut: Nice assist but it doesn't mean s*** | OneFootball

Norwich City midfielder Mathias Normann was pleased to make his Premier League debut in defeat to Watford.

Normann featured in the 3-1 reverse at Carrow Road.

The Norway international left FC Rostov for Norwich in the final days of the summer market. The Russians had been reluctant to lose Normann as he was a first-choice for the Russian Premier League club.

It wasn't until Saturday at Carrow Road that Normann saw Premier League action and admits it was an emotional day.

He told VG: "There was a moment in the bus where I thought 'oh s***, I'm going to play the Premier League'. But when I entered the stadium and thought about the work ahead and what I should do, I was really very calm and looked forward to playing the match.

"I was quite clear that I could be shocked by the pace and intensity. I was very focused on clicking from the start and making it easy. It was two or three minutes after our goal where I felt that 'f***, it swings well'."

Asked about his first impressions of Premier League demands, Normann says he enjoyed the experience, despite the defeat. Normann also couldn't take much enjoyment from the assist he produced for Teemu Pukki's goal given the final result.

He continued: "There was a lot of running, but all in all it was fun to play at home and see the fans. I hate losing, so it's a little hard to enjoy an assist that does not mean s***.

"I'm still looking for a place to live, but it's a great club. I live very well."

Normann is on-loan at Norwich with Rostov for the season with a permanent option included. He spent two years with Rostov, having been sold by Brighton in 2019.
