West Brom will begin the Championship at Norwich City on August 15, with their hosts completing a notable move for Andre Brooks. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 22-year-old has agreed a five-year deal following a move from Sheffield United.

Brooks, a wideman and Blades academy graduate, was named both players’ and young player of the season in a disappointing campaign that ended 13th. The Jamaica international has nine goals in 96 first-team games and has impressed against Albion before.

It is reported the fee is an initial eight million pounds, potentially rising to nine million if Norwich win promotion. The Canaries have tracked Brooks for some time and previously tried to sign him.

Brooks is Norwich’s second addition of the summer, following Brazil defender Bruno Alves, 20. He has arrived from Cruzeiro on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Philippe Clement, the former Rangers boss, replaced Liam Manning last November and oversaw a surge that ended with Norwich ninth, eight points outside the play-offs. Their form under Clement was play-off standard and many fancy him to push them higher this season.

Albion learned on Thursday of the opening-day trip, which will be an early marker of how James Morrison’s Baggies have progressed over the summer.
