Bayern chief insists striker will never be signed permanently
"Not €16.5m": Hoeneß Drops Bombshell on Bayern’s Real Cost for Jackson Loan
Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß's revealed surprising details about the club’s loan move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson after facing criticism over the deal’s cost.
Reports suggested Bayern paid 16.5m euro to secure Jackson on loan with mandatory purchase clause.
However Hoeneß told Sport1’s Doppelpass that the numbers were misleading:
"We didn't pay €16.5m. The player and his agent contributed €3m, so Bayern’s share is €13.5m" he explained.
Hoeneß was categorical about Jackson’s future:
"We'll never sign him permanently. That would only happen if he starts 40 match and that will never be the case"
The German champions came under fire for investing in Jackson who struggled at Chelsea last season and fell behind Joao Pedro & Liam Delap in the pecking order.
Despite this, Bayern see him only as backup with Harry Kane firmly established as their main striker following Thomas Muller’s MLS departure.
The Bayern icon defended the club’s summer business:
"We're absolutely satisfied. We're the real winners of the transfer window. Of course we wanted Florian Wirtz but we would never pay 150m euro"
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in record breaking PL move .. but has yet to impress in his first 3 match in England.
