Leeds United face Manchester United at Croke Park on Wednesday, a pre-season date set to feel anything but friendly, with a full house expected in Dublin.
Jayden Bogle said: “No, you can’t. Even though it is pre-season, it is not going to be a friendly. We will recover now and then prepare for that one next”, he told LUTV.
Daniel Farke’s side beat RB Leipzig 2-0 on Saturday, their third straight win over top-flight opposition. Confidence also stems from April’s 2-1 success at Old Trafford, their first league win there since 1981, when Noah Okafor scored both.
Karl Darlow rejected new Leeds terms, becoming the first since Alan Smith in 2004 to move from Elland Road to Old Trafford. He is yet to feature for United due to injury but has now linked up with Michael Carrick’s squad in County Kildare, near Dublin.
Leeds had planned to sign a goalkeeper and have since broken their transfer record with the £40million capture of James Trafford on a five-year deal.
The summer arrival is expected to meet his team-mates on Tuesday and could debut at Croke Park if Farke decides he is ready. This is Leeds’ penultimate friendly.
Other United additions who could be involved include Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo. Leeds will be without Gabriel Gudmundsson through injury, while Trafford may make the squad and Okafor is being eased back after an extended break.
