Max Eberl has rejected the recent rumors of a possible move to Saudi Arabia in no uncertain terms. The FC Bayern sporting director made it clear that there was no truth to the speculation
The Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah recently reported that Al-Ittihad were looking closely at signing the 52-year-old, according to which the Saudi Pro League club had already held initial talks with Eberl
At the final press conference before the Bundesliga final against 1. FC Köln, the Bayern boss reacted publicly to the reports for the first time. „I thought about answering in jest, but then I don’t know if everyone will take it as a joke,“ said Eberl with a grin
Then the sporting director became clear: „I actually wanted to say: Yes, I was in Saudi Arabia … with the German U18 national team. That is my experience that I had in Saudi Arabia. Everything else is out of this world.“

The Bayern official was visibly relaxed about the discussion as a whole. „A lot is being written about me, and now it’s going in that direction,“ Eberl continued – only to clarify once again: „But: No.“
The 52-year-old thus put an end to the speculation surrounding a possible departure from the record champions for the time being
Despite the denial, Eberl’s future at FC Bayern remains a much-discussed topic. His contract still runs until 2027, but internally the sporting director is still under observation by the supervisory board
There have been repeated criticisms in recent months, particularly with regard to contract negotiations and squad planning
At the same time, Eberl continues to enjoy backing for key decisions – including the signing of Vincent Kompany and Michael Olise
In the summer, the sporting director is now likely to be judged primarily on how successfully he implements the planned transfers and sales, although a move to Saudi Arabia does not appear to play any role at present.
